Nobody clapped
The wins that don’t come with an announcement.
You sent the email. You said the number out loud without shaving anything off it. You stopped apologising at the start of sentences about work you’re good at.
None of that gets a photo. There’s no announcement, no one takes you to dinner, and if you told most people they’d say “oh, nice” and change the subject. And yet the year that follows is measurably different because of it.
We’re interested in those. Not the launch — the Tuesday three months earlier when you decided you were going to do it anyway. Not the finished thing — the night you let it be badly made rather than not made at all.
